Arrival in Malindi & Scenic Flight to the Delta

Touch down at Malindi Airport and board a light aircraft for a breathtaking scenic flight across the shimmering waterways of the Tana River Delta. Land at a remote tented camp accessed by hand-poled canoe or vehicle, with a golden hour welcome drink served on arrival.

Floodplain Exploration & Wildlife Tracking

Sunrise-to-dusk exploration of the floodplains by vehicle, tracking hippo, elephant, giraffe, and red-billed queleas that thicken the air in flocks thousands strong along the water's edge.

Deep Channels & Boat Drifts

Traverse the delta's intricate channels by traditional boat, poled quietly through papyrus-lined waterways, ideal for spotting African fish eagle, hippo pods, and the occasional Nile crocodile.

Island Walking Safari & Botanical Exploration

Step ashore for a guided walking safari across a sand island shaded by doum palms, learning the delta's smaller ecology, from termite mounds to medicinal plants, at eye level with an armed naturalist.

A full day tracking the delta's resident predators by open vehicle, following fresh sign through flood-margin woodland and floodplain into the late afternoon.

Bush Walk, Departure & Malindi Connection
