Mara & Amboseli Heritage
Journey into the two landscapes that define the classic Kenyan safari: the endless plains of the Masai Mara and the elephant-thronged swamps of Amboseli, framed by Mount Kilimanjaro.
This itinerary is built for first-time safari travelers who want the essentials done properly — resident big cats, vast herds, and a private guide who knows exactly where the light and the wildlife will meet each day.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
A flexible outline — every itinerary is tailored around your dates and interests.
Arrival in the Masai Mara & Welcome Game Drive
Touch down at a Mara airstrip and transfer to camp along tracks already thick with plains game. After settling into your tent and a light lunch, head out for an afternoon orientation drive as the light turns gold, tracking your first impala, topi, and, with luck, a resting lion pride before returning to camp for dinner under the stars.
Full-Day Predator Tracking in the Mara Triangle
A full day dedicated to the Mara's resident big cats, departing at first light with a packed bush breakfast. Your guide works radio networks with fellow trackers to follow fresh lion and leopard sign across the Triangle's riverine forest and open plains, returning to camp only as the heat of the day settles in.
Field Note
Pack a lightweight fleece for early starts — the Mara can be surprisingly cold before sunrise, even a few degrees south of the equator.
Maasai Cultural Encounter
After a morning game drive, visit a nearby Maasai village to learn about traditional pastoralist life, from cattle husbandry to the adumu jumping dance, with proceeds from the visit supporting the local community directly.
Elephant Herds of Amboseli
A full morning tracking Amboseli's famous large-tusker elephant herds as they move between swamp and acacia woodland, with Kilimanjaro rising behind them in one of Africa's most photographed backdrops.
Departure Game Drive & Transfer
A final morning drive through the swamp circuit before a relaxed breakfast and transfer back toward Nairobi or your onward connection.
