Day-by-Day Itinerary

A flexible outline — every itinerary is tailored around your dates and interests.

01
DAY 01

Arrival & Mzima Springs

Transfer into Tsavo West and, after settling into camp, visit the crystal-clear Mzima Springs, where an underwater observatory offers rare eye-level views of hippo and barbel fish.

Arrival & Mzima Springs
02
DAY 02

Red Elephants of Tsavo West

A full day tracking Tsavo's famous dust-red elephant herds, dyed by the park's volcanic soil, across lava flows and acacia scrub that make this one of Kenya's most distinctive landscapes.

Field Note

Tsavo's red dust gets everywhere — a dry bag or zip-lock for camera gear is worth packing.

03
DAY 03

Chyulu Hills Excursion

Scenic drive into the young, grass-covered Chyulu Hills for sweeping views back across Tsavo and, on a clear day, Kilimanjaro on the horizon, with noticeably cooler highland air.

04
DAY 04

Tsavo East Crossing

Cross into Tsavo East for a change of scenery: vast open plains, the Yatta Plateau (one of the world's longest lava flows), and reliable sightings of lion and long-tusked elephant.

05
DAY 05

Second Red Elephant Tracking Day

A further day following elephant herds and exploring the park's lesser-visited tracks, with time at a lookout point for a picnic lunch overlooking the plains.

06
DAY 06
